2001 Toyota Celica Wheel Fitment

This setup is mostly inspired by Korben007's setup on newcelica.org. With his permission, here are his photos.

He has Rota RT5-R wheels in 18x9.5 +38 with 5mm spacers all around. Tires on his setup are 245/35R18.

On the other side of the world, here's my setup.

Rota RT5-R
18x9.5 +38 front & rear
5mm rear spacers
235/40R18 Michelin Pilot Sport 3 front
255/35R18 Dunlop Direzza DZ102 rear
Tein S.Tech springs front & rear
Testing out the new meaty 235/40R18 Michelin Pilot Sport 3 tires in the rear.

The 235/40 Michelin PS3s went to the front, while new 255/35 Dunlop Direzza DZ102s got fitted in the rear.

Strangely enough, my previous set of Dunlop Direzza DZ102 in 235/40R18 seem to be narrower than my new Michelin Pilot Sport 3s of the same spec. The DZ102 was stretched, while the PS3 was meaty.

Before I get a wheel alignment, I have to replace any possibly worn suspension and steering components. The rear shocks were upgraded to new KYB AGX adjustable shocks in March 2019, which somehow raised the rear ride height by 1 inch. New pairs of KYB SM5382 shock mounts, and SB132 strut boots with bump stops also went in.

List of what's next as of 2019-04-05:

  • front lower control arm bushing replacement
  • front sway bar bushing replacement
  • steering rack bushing replacement
  • front fender roll
  • wheel alignment

This new wheel setup lost me a small bit of acceleration from the 1ZZ GT, but what make up for that are improved stability in straights and handling around corners.
